The site has no accounts, checkout, comments, public contact form or newsletter. Google Analytics is optional and does not load before consent.
Data controller and contact
DogTrainingScout is operated under the trading name DogTrainingScout by a sole trader established in the United Kingdom. For the personal information described in this policy, DogTrainingScout acts as the data controller unless another organisation states that it controls the information it receives.

Information collected
Information you provide
If you email DogTrainingScout, the message may contain your name, email address and anything else you choose to include. That information is used to read, route, respond to and keep an appropriate record of the enquiry.
Technical information
The hosting service may process an IP address, browser and device details, requested URL, referring URL, request time, response status and security information in ordinary server logs. These records support website delivery, security, abuse prevention and fault diagnosis.
Optional analytics information
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics may process page views, approximate location, referring source, browser and device information and measured interactions. DogTrainingScout does not ask Google Analytics to collect names, email addresses or advertising identifiers through this implementation.
The site does not currently offer accounts, purchases, comments, a newsletter or a public contact form.
Purposes and lawful bases
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Purpose | Information | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to enquiries and keep necessary correspondence | Email address, message and related records | Legitimate interests in communicating, administering the publication and handling complaints; legal obligation where applicable |
| Deliver, secure and troubleshoot the website | Server and security logs | Legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable website; legal obligation where applicable |
| Understand use of guides and technical performance | Optional Google Analytics information | Consent |
| Establish, exercise or defend legal claims | Relevant correspondence and records | Legitimate interests and legal obligation, as applicable |
Where processing relies on legitimate interests, DogTrainingScout considers the need to operate and protect the site against the effect on visitors. Where processing relies on consent, consent can be withdrawn without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Optional Google Analytics
With consent, the site loads Google Analytics 4 using measurement ID G-T740Q2TVWH. Google Analytics does not load and no Analytics request is made before acceptance. Advertising storage, ad-user-data storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals remain disabled in the site configuration.
The GA4 property currently retains event data for two months and user data for fourteen months. Google may process Analytics information under its terms and data-processing arrangements. Read Google's privacy policy for information about Google's processing.
Cookies and local storage
The site uses browser storage to remember the analytics choice. Analytics cookies are optional.
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Name | Type and provider | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
dts_analytics_consent | Local storage, DogTrainingScout | Remembers whether optional analytics was accepted or rejected | Until the choice is changed or browser storage is cleared |
_ga | Cookie, Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors after analytics consent | Up to two years by default, subject to browser controls |
_ga_<container-id> | Cookie, Google Analytics | Maintains session state after analytics consent | Up to two years by default, subject to browser controls |
If optional analytics is rejected, the Google script is not loaded and these Analytics cookies are not set by this site. Use Cookie settings in the footer to accept, reject or withdraw. Withdrawal records a rejection, removes accessible Analytics cookies for this domain and reloads the page to stop future collection from that browser. Browser settings may also delete or block storage. Google describes its current Analytics cookie behaviour in its GA4 cookie guidance.
Recipients, service providers and international processing
Personal information may be processed by service providers that support the site, including the website host, email and workspace provider, security services and Google Analytics after consent. They process information under their own terms and applicable data-protection arrangements. Information may also be disclosed where required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or in connection with a legitimate transfer of the publication or its assets.
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where restricted international transfers apply, DogTrainingScout relies on the provider's applicable contractual safeguards, adequacy arrangements or another lawful transfer mechanism. Contact DogTrainingScout for more information about a particular transfer.
DogTrainingScout does not currently sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. If future advertising, affiliate tracking, accounts, forms or newsletters materially change processing, this policy and the consent controls will be updated before that processing begins.
Retention
Information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including responding to an enquiry, maintaining appropriate business and editorial records, securing the website and meeting legal obligations. Retention depends on the nature of the record, whether a dispute exists and any legal or contractual requirement. Analytics retention is described above. Hosting and security logs may be retained according to the host's security and operational settings.
When information is no longer needed, it is deleted, anonymised or allowed to expire where reasonably practicable.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to be informed, access personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict processing, object to processing, receive portable information and withdraw consent. Some rights are qualified and may not apply to every record.

Children
The site is written for adults responsible for dogs and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Do not send a child's personal information unless there is a clear reason and appropriate authority. If DogTrainingScout learns that unnecessary information about a child has been received, it will be deleted where reasonably practicable.
Security
Reasonable organisational and technical measures are used to protect information, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not email passwords, payment-card details, medical records or other highly sensitive information.
